Yarennoka lives up to expectations

Still not having stood on its own legs, M-1 Global is happy with the success of its first endeavor, Yarennoka, held on December 31st. Relying on the help of K-1 and former Pride employees, everything went according to the event’s organizers’ plans. With their poster boy, Fedor Emelianenko’s victory, in the Saitama Super Arena full and transmission live to the United States via internet, the event excited and promised to be strong competition in the MMA world in 2008. The eight fights on the program excited the Japanese public, which went into a frenzy with Fedor’s armbar over the giant South Korean Hong Man Choi, while still in the first round.

“We were pleased to be able to support the Yarennoka event. Fedor (Emelianenko) clearly demonstrated why he is the No. 1 ranked fighter in the world. We are glad that MMA fans in the U.S. were able to see this great fight live on HDNet. “The success of this event demonstrates the synergies that can be created when MMA organizations across the world work together to stage a spectacular event,” declared Bob Clark, chief operating officer of M-1, to the Japanese press.

The show’s main star, Fedor Emelianenko also was thankful for having returned to the country that brought him into the limelight in the world of MMA. “I’m happy to have fought in Japan one more time. The fight was for all the fans. If possible, I hope to return to Japan to fight again,” said the Russian in the microphone.
