van Os Gym

The city of Alkmaar is the place where Vos Gym is based. The gym originated on August,1 of 2007 from the merging of two renowned schools: Gym Alkmaar (Edwin van Os, MMA) & Loeks Gym (Peter van Os, thai box and kickboxing, founded in 1995). After the merging it became one of the biggest schools in the whole Netherlands. Such world-class fighters train in the united center in Alkmaar as Dennis de Rus, Kaas, Drago, Peter Hoes and Robert van Nimwegen.

Actually Loeks Gym was founded in 1995. Peter van Os came from the world famous Mejiro Gym (Amsterdam).

Recently a new department of VOS Gym was opened in Rotterdam but after awhile it became an independent unity that has nothing to do with the original VOS gym in Alkmaar.

Some of the photos were made during the evening training under the guidance of Peter van Os (thai boxing champion) and Peter Hoes. One of the training was meant for the beginners where as another one was for the advance and more experienced fighters preparing for the tournaments. During the session athletes worked on different techniques and did some sparring.

Even before the merging both gym had who’s who in the world of kickboxing. Think Dave Vader and Romano del los Ryes in Loeks Gym and for instance Dennis de Rus and Pislik in Gym Alkmaar. MMA training commenced only after the merger.
