Aiming to repeat the success of the first Russian April event in St. Petersburg where the main draw was Fedor Emelianenko and among the guests of honor were Russian president, ex-prime-minister of Italy Silvio Berluskoni, Peter Aerts, Gilbert Yvel, and Jean-Claude van Damme, bodog held the second major Russian event Unfortunately, this time the show didn't go as well as previous edition did. Bodog decided to organiza thing on its own, while the April show was held in conjunction with the league M-1 Mixfight, that not only helped arrange things but gave its standout fighters. Yesterday the show was lacking for that amount of celebrities, and the venue itself was filled only 50%, although the organization conducted huge advertising campaign. The crowd was rooting for Russian athletes who didn't fail the expectations winning almost every bout.

A lot of questions and sense of bewilderment have arisen after the last main event bout, Bodog was counting on: Taktarov vs Marsh. We go step by step as our reporter Kirill Kasyan describes the course of events:

Sultan Tikhayev vs Alexander Kokoev :

Sultan was controlling the whole bout looking more impressive. Kokoev opposed well as he broke the nose of Sultan in the exchange. However in the second round after the combo series in the parter Sultan managed to finish the fight by the rear naked choke.

Besiki Gerenava vs Ivan Anikanov

The fighters got to the parter instantly where Besiki successfully got the armbar.

Stanislav Shushko vs Telman Shariphov

This one reminded of a kickboxer against a boxer, Stanislav attacked more with legs, moved around keeping the distance. Telman on the contrary punched and tried to close the distance. His blows felt very powerful. He even got the knock-down in the first. In the second and the third he was trying to finish the fight but he didn't succeed and got even more tired. The judges saw it as a victory in favor of Stanislav.

Vladimir Zenin vs James Jones

Jones took Zenin down, but few minutes later Vladimir managed to secure an armbar just several seconds prior to the end of the first.

Dan Evensen vs Konstantin Gluhov

Most of the time Dan was taking his opponent down where he implemented kind of lay-and-pray technique but every time just 10 seconds before the end of a round he was throwing some fists. Gluhov preferred stand-up fight, but he couldn't do much. The result: well-deserved victory for the American.

Akhmet Sultanov vs Eric Pele

Late replacement of Roman Zentsov was unknown to Pele. This bout looked like the most equal bout, which went in the stand-up in its entirety. The first round opponents were sizing each other up. Sultanov was more active, trying to attack Eric more. Pele was moving backward hoping to catch Akhmet with a counterpunch and reserving his power. In the third Eric was more aggressive but looking for the finish. The judges gave the victory to Sultanov though it looked more as a draw.

Zuluzihno vs Vladimir Kuchenko

Zulu came out swinging with some throws, then the fight hit the ground where the massive Brazilian saw the opportunity when Vladimir left his back open and forced him to tap in the first.

Alexander Shlemenko vs Diego Vitosky

Many called this bout the fight of the night. Vitosky was constantly looking for a takedown but in vain. During one of such attempts Diego hit the ropes while the Omsk-born Russian kicked the Argentinian with a leg sending him into the deep KO.

Andrei Semenov vs Emyr Bussade

In the first round Andrei cut his opponent while rather aggressively attacking him. Emyr in return was looking for some leglocks but Andrei was punishing him a lot while scrambling. The second and third round were showcase of stand-up and parter war. Semenov looked tired but still he did more to gain the victory.

Oleg Taktarov vs John Marsh

Lots of people in attendance saw work in this one. In the very beginning Marsh dropped Oleg with a solid punch but he didn't rush for the kill, so till the end of the round he was not punishing Russian Bear preferring to clinch which didn't seem rational. The fight was stopped in the second round when shortly after the clinch Oleg took John down just starting to secure a kneebar as Marsh tapped out instantly. Oleg showed his appreciation to the fans and the show saw its doubtful ending.
